MENTOR NEW YORK WINS SILVER STEVIE® AWARD IN 2020 STEVIE AWARDS FOR WOMEN IN BUSINESS

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – October 2, 2020 – MENTOR New York has been named the winner of a Silver Stevie® Award in the Organization of the Year – Government or NonProfit– 10 or Less Employees category in the 17th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.


The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, employees, and the companies they run– worldwide. The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards.


Winners will be celebrated during a virtual awards ceremony on Wednesday, December 9. Registration for the ceremony is now on sale.


More than 1,500 entries were submitted this year for consideration in more than 100 categories. MENTOR New York won in the Organization of the Year category for Government or Non-Profit– 10 or Less Employees.


“It is an honor for MENTOR New York to win this award and be recognized for the work it’s done to serve the community,” said MENTOR New York’s CEO Brenda Jimenez. “In the past year, we have grown exponentially in the services offered to the mentoring and youth development communities in NY and, during the pandemic, have seen the critical role that mentoring and caring relationships play in the lives of young people.”


Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie Award winners were determined by the average scores of more than 180 business professionals around the world, working on seven juries.


“You [MENTOR New York] are doing well managing projects for young people and providing them with high quality support,” said one Stevie Awards judge in their comments. “The organization serves more than 850 mentorship programs (serving schools, corporations, and community-based organizations) that impact over 80,000 young people. MENTOR New York also created an internal framework on how the organization can fight against systems of oppression to ensure young people are empowered to reach their full potential.”
