About the Event
In a challenging moment, a calm, caring response can help a young person feel safe, heard, and supported. This workshop will explore relationship-centered strategies for recognizing distress, listening without judgment, supporting de-escalation, and identifying when additional help is needed. Through discussion and practical scenarios, participants will build confidence in responding with empathy while prioritizing safety, connection, and appropriate boundaries.
The workshop will be led by Rolanda Ward, Ph.D., LMSW, MDiv, Professor of Social Work, Chair and BSW Program Director, and Endowed Faculty Director of the Rose Bente Lee Ostapenko Center at Niagara University.
