MENTOR New York is thrilled to bring the 2019 Mentoring Matters Conference to Western NY. The conference will feature experts in the areas of mentoring and youth development and address the most pressing topics concerning youth in Western New York and around the nation.

Panel -  College Retention: Are Kids Really College Ready?

This panel will discuss how mentoring can address a critical issue faced by young people planning for and/or entering into higher education – the struggle of adjusting, adapting and remaining in college for the full two-four years of their degree. This panel will explore all angles of this issue and brainstorm ways for those who work with youth in schools, mentoring programs and other organizations to help prepare young people not only to make it to college but to stay there and thrive. Panelists from Adelphi University Mentoring Program.

Keynote - Lieutenant Governor Kathleen C. Hochul

Don't miss Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul speak about:

  • the role mentoring played in her life

  • how mentoring has become a cornerstone of the Governor's Office 

  • how to engage kids


Conference Details

  • Check-in begins at 8:30am and breakfast will be served. Our day will officially begin at 9:00am. 

  • You do not need to bring your ID or a printed ticket to check-in at the conference.

  • All Early Bird ticket sales end on Friday, March 15, 2019

  • Regular ticket sales end on Friday, April 5, 2019.
